Do You Lose or Gain Weight With Stress?

It all depends on what is happening with your insulin and cortisol hormones.

Key Points:

• Acute Stress (Short Term) – lowers insulin, which means you may lose weight.

• Chronic Stress (Long Term) – increases insulin, which converts glucose into fat. You would gain weight.

The body‘s response to long-term stress is to spike cortisol and adrenaline. Cortisol has the potential to increase insulin, which releases glucose from your liver and dumps that stored sugar into your bloodstream. Insulin has to take it into storage as fat. That is why some people gain weight.

Dr. Berg Talks About The 5th Body Type.

There are 4 main body types:

1. Adrenal (sagging belly) from high levels of cortisol, a stress hormone.

2. Thyroid (overall weight gain in the entire body) from low levels of the thyroid hormone T4 or T3.

3. Ovary (pear shape, heavier around the hips the thighs the lower butt) from high levels of estrogen.

4. Liver (protruding basketball belly) from liver damage and low growth hormone.

But there is one more; it is the pancreas type.

Pancreas is from high insulin; it is insulin resistance. The pancreas is pumping out too much insulin because this person has insulin resistance.
