It is NOT Lose Weight to Get Healthy, It is Get Healthy to Lose Weight

It is a very powerful but simple concept.

If you focus on losing weight first and not the health part you may or may not end up healthy. Healthy people do not actually gain weight if you are truly healthy you are not going to be overweight in the first place.

The Health Indicators Are:

• No Cravings

• No Hunger between the Meals and could go a long period of time without being hungry or irritable, edgy, and emotional.

• Increase Stress Tolerance

• Increase Quality of Sleep

• Increase Endurance and Energy, Mental Cognitive Function, Focus and Concentration

• Great Skin

• Great Digestion

If you focus on getting healthy first you may or may not lose weight initially. The reason why this is valuable to understand is because if a person does the program for one or two weeks and they do not lose and they think it is not working. But they have improvements in the health indicators above and even their waist is shrinking, they would probably give up thinking it is not working, when it was working. It just takes some time for the weight to actually come off.

Atrophy – This really relates to women going through menopause because a lot times they end up with atrophy. That is a loss of muscle. They do not have nearly the amount of muscle in their body anymore and so it is flabby and they think it is just fat. No, it is actually a loss of muscle. It is called atrophy. That has to heal that takes some time and as it heals that muscle is going to be heavier than the fat per the same volume. So you may not see any change in weight loss. But you are you going to see change in how you feel and in the health indicators.

It is an important concept to focus on.

It is health first and then the weight loss.  

This became real when a patient come in to see Dr. Berg, she was 23-year-old female that was majorly overweight. She was 325 pounds. Dr. Berg put her on the program. In the first month she lost zero weight. Dr. Berg was really upset but she was OK with it.  As he was talking to her, she told him I just feel so much, better my skin is better, my clothes are fitting but not losing any weight but she was so happy with it. Dr. Berg was not happy and then the second month she lost 21 pounds. By the third month she was down 63 pounds and it was at that time he had this huge realization.

People have to get healthy first then lose the weight.  

A lot of times when you go to your doctor and they said you are healthy.  Your blood test and cholesterol tests are normal. A lot of time this hormonal balance it will not show up until the advanced stages, especially when you get into adrenal function.

Doctors never check insulin with a fasting insulin test. There’s a test called HOMA IR. It measures fasting insulin. You can have normal glucose, normal cholesterol and have high insulin, that is abnormal.

Another good test to evaluate would be the CAC, which is called coronary artery calcium scoring. That is a good one to see how healthy you are internally in your corner artery to see if it calcified or not.

You are going to be much better off if you focus on the health first. The weight loss will come off as a byproduct of getting healthy.
